Craig Perry began his passion for photography in 1975 at the urging of his high school German teacher, an amateur bee-keeper with a cruel sense of humor and a second bee-keeper outfit fit for a man twice the young Mr. Perry's size. After fifteen years of taking color transparencies and storing them negligently in shoe boxes, Mr. Perry gave up on his photographic ambitions to focus on beer consumption. After various career incarnations - traveling rock-and-roll poster salesman, restaurant mismanager, summer camp counseler, canoe guide, computer technician and western wear expert to name a few, Mr. Perry is now seeking to utilize his his quirky vision of the world about him and pursue a career in photography.
As a self taught pumpkin carver/designer, Mr. Perry has had his work displayed in Chicago's Millennium Park, the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, the MN Gallery in Chicago, Phyllis' Musical Inn and several "cultural institutions" in New Orleans, Louisiana. His pumpkin skills have been featured on all of the major Chicago media outlets - ABC, NBC, CBS, WGN, Fox, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times, as well as many of the independent outlets - the Chicago Reader, TimeOut, RedEye, NewCity, Flavorpill, Center Stage, Gapers Block, and the Chicago Journal. His website www.kuhnewer.com is a reference to his passion for canoeing.
He resides in Chicago with his beautiful wife Kathleen, their clueless dog Butter and their indifferent cat Aaron.
